Completing an application to rent a property

Why do I need to fill in an application form to rent a property?

If you intent on renting a home, you must put you intentions in writing to the Property Manager or Owner.

What do I need to include?

Your Property Manager will ask you to include your 100 point identification check. A list if how to obtain your 100 points of identification can be found in the application form. It usually consists of a drivers license, bank card and medical card however there are several combinations which make up the 100 points.

You will also need to include your proof of income. You can show proof of your income by including recent payslips and your recent bank statements.

Referees

You will be asked to include a rental reference, employment reference and some character references. This is so we can confirm your information and ascertain what type of Tenant you will be and if the property you are applying for, is suitable.

Pets

If the Owner is happy to accept Pets at the property, then you will be asked to include some information about your pet. Try and put as much information as you can about the pet including the pets name, age, breed and registration number. Photographs of the pet are also a good idea.

What other information is required?

You will need to include what date you would like to rent the property from and for how long. (Usually lease agreements are for 6 or 12 months). The rent you wish to pay and the number of occupants who intend on living at the property.

What next?

Once you have submitted your application, your Property Manager will begin the process the application. This will involve the Property Manager contacting your Referees to confirm the information provided in your application. They will also check the National Tenancy Database. They will then discuss your application with the Owner.

Once your application is approved, your Property Manager will contact you to arrange time for you to go to their office to go sign the lease agreement.
